The Emergency Warming Center has completed 5 successful years! This year, with COVID-19 adding additional challenges for our homeless, under-sheltered and marginalized, we began an Emergency Day Center in March 2020. We see the tangible difference this service is making in our community so in July we began our 6th year, expanding to a "Navigation Center",
We are committed to proactively addressing the growing issue of homelessness and the vulnerability to our neighbors living outdoors, in their cars and those on the cusp of that happening, here in our Tahoe-Truckee communities.
We ask for your help, as we TRIPLE our budget and increase staff to offer a Day Center space, 3 days each week, year-round. Additionally we plan on opening overnight, on the most severe weather nights of the winter season. Both of these providing community and connections to our neighbors in need.
